Chechova Street
Yuzhno Sakhalin
Russia

Site members and visitors:
A new Celtic Supporters Club has been founded on the remote island of Sakhalin in Far East Russia approx 2 days travel from UK. It is the first CSC on the Island.
One of the clubs founder members Jim Nelis is the current web master for the Greenock Celtic Travel Club.
There are currently 20 members and this will grow as word gets around the island, already local Russians have shown an interest in Celtic particularly after the UEFA 2008 final when Zenit beat the huns.
The guys like many Celtic Fans around the world who due to nature of the job they have to work away from the UK, they are a group of BHOYS that are in the Oil/Gas industry, they get home every 7 weeks for 3 weeks leave, and of course get to see Celtic as often as they can as they are season ticket holders and also members of various clubs in Scotland.
The town they are based in is called YUZHNO hence the club name If Yuzhno the History CSC#1, it is a remote place and not so easy to get to, however last year on St Patrick’s day there was an Irish band playing, so well done to them for making the 2 day trip, the bhoys keep track of all Celtic news via internet and family contacts, so that is a blessing that there is no need to listen to the blue nose tainted Scottish media, the old firm games are shown on satellite TV this can be interesting as the Huns supporters are in same bar for this ??? Fortunately most work together so the crack is of a lighter nature!!!! than you would normally expect, although when they beat us 3-0 at the evil empire it was hard to take being surrounded by the Blue nose lads, and of course revenge was so sweet when Celtic beat them twice on our way to the league and 3 in a row.
We plan this year to organize charity nights in our local bar, and have various Celtic nights showing DVD's of games etc.
Founder members are myself James Nelis a member of the Greenock Celtic Travel Club and Pat Quinn a founder member of Irvine Celtic Supporters Club, we designed a badge see attached and have polo shirts made locally all monies are donated to a local orphanage, we spread the Celtic word at ever occasion. During a recent five a side competition we supplied the local team with the beloved hoops..picture below.
